Racial Assaults Poem by Hebert Logerie

Racial Assaults

Racial insults and assaults
Happen as we breathe
As we conceivably seethe
Every time, without faults
When our sisters are mistreated
Undermined psychologically, and humiliated
When our brothers are racially profiled
And discriminated against for being who they are
This is a horrendous crime, this is a dumb war
Too many victims exist. This is wild
It is like living in a jungle
Where some men and women behave
Worse than lions and scavengers. They juggle
With ignorance and stupidity. They are enslaved
By a false sense of superiority.
Racial assaults are as bad as sexual violence
As disgusting as rape, as evidence
By the psychological asphyxiation
Of depriving other human beings of their rights
To live happily and to enjoy without fights
The fruits of their labor, and their rights to relaxation.
Racial insult is like rape indeed, a form of violence
Where the stigma lasts for a long time
It is an abhorrent crime
Which has deleterious consequences
On the feeble and unfortunate victims
Let’s build coalitions, groups or teams
So we can eradicate all types of racial discrimination
Through tolerance, intelligence and education.
