Radio Music Poem by Mark Heathcote

Radio Music

In the early hours, we hear radio music in ³/₄ time
It's in pace with the manor of the morning dew
Harmonizing with the sway of a washing line
To-the-mirth-of-blackbirds with adoration imbue.

Boléro music at breakfast sets a rhythmic tone
Like the keys of a piano beating in a metronome
A symphony awakes us like a gentle xylophone
Far removed from the crescendo of traffic...

And the shout 'all hurry up, ' school run megaphone.
It's been a slow and calming dance on a lake's shore.
That has a rippling effect on sinking vessels offshore.
Its rhythms stir the senses like a sea breeze.

Even storm clouds cool off to billowy soft inductees.
Raising your head above the sheets to dulcet tones
Semi-unconscious but glistening like a moonstone.
You gaze into the distance and eat breakfast- organic.
