Rain Song © Poem by Roann Mendriq

Rain Song ©

Not a whisper broke the silence
of the bleak night's solitude;
As if in quiet meek compliance
to match my own dark quietude.

Then with a thunderous cymbal clash
the heavens broke into cloudburst;
accompanied by strobe lightning flash
with songs that quenched my every thirst.

Sometimes as soft as lullabyes
it pitters on the dancing leaves;
Sometimes with thunder from the skies
heavy metal 'neath the eaves!

Melodies in harmonic thirds,
this rain song needs no fancy words!
