Rat Eaters Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Rat Eaters

Rat eaters

Story is simple
And a kind of fable
But very good lesson.

Rats came and multiplied
Hoarded the harvest, farms
And owners were helpless
Till the wise came along.

"Dig a pot, and cement
Catch, throw some rats there
Feed them well…" advised them.

So, they did and the rats
Lived as live the royals,
Lean on us, suck blood,
Enjoyed sex, multiplied.

Again, came the old wise
Spoke and gave advice:
"Now, stop feeding them…"

That happened…

Hungry went monarchs,
That made them brutal,
To babies of their own,
Ate the weak and meek,
Then youths, young…

Those remained were few
And ate rats, like Mew.

"Now, let them go in farms; "
Was the old's last advice…

Rats, turned to rat eaters
Kept hunting rats, to end.

Farm became free of
All the rats and their harm.
