Rattle The Glasses Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Rattle The Glasses

Rating: 5.0

Bound by tradition they sing
The walls boom, the glasses rattle
Sisters, friends, cousins, brothers
Sons, fathers, mothers daughters
The neighbor if he is willing

Those tearful joyful songs of folk
Solemn eyes and boundless spirit
They sing as ancestors stir and rise
A tear for those close in prayers
A smile for our invincible chain

A toast of brew or a grape sippy cup
The family praises each one in turn
A mention of a time, a place, a look
And once again the voices boom
A warm kitchen glows in the night

This is like a room we've all been in. Lovely.
