She has grown old
From the top of her head
To the ends of her toes
As old as time
As old as winter
She had not imagined it to happen so soon
When she was growing up
It was always a distant future
Something that happened to other people
Her life would be different, she had thought
Foolish as all young people were
Daring to dream of defeating life
Daring to dream of going places
Reaching unimaginable heights
Changing the world to their own liking
Life moved in its own usual fashion
Not much different from other lives
The change happened within
Slowly yet steadily the ebb set in
Until at last she accepted the truth

Lovely poem. Age has a way of creeping up on us before we know it x
