I reared my children in a way quite strict;
They tell me that I had done something wrong;
They find that they are unfit for the world;
My children still insist, ‘I am at fault! '
I know that I had done all things aright;
Should I raise up my children worldly-wise?
I did the things my conscience told were right;
They blame me for not telling world's vile ways!
The modern world is not fit for upright;
Most youngsters feel they must be wily too;
As parent, I cannot agree with them;
'Tis sad that youth give up their virtues fast!
I know that I have done my best I thought;
I gave them all a life I couldn't afford;
But youth compare and argue till the last;
Is being righteous sin or my great crime?
The world has gone so crazy and bizarre;
Present day youth just want to do their way;
Someday, they will regret and feel remorse;
Lord, lead them on the road to heaven, please!
