Reflections cascading into blue
Strolling down an unknown avenue
Parasol in hand, red and grey
Here is a rhubarb classic today.
Like a French impressionist's canvas
Like upturned flower hammocks
Near and close and yet far away
All kinds of shadow and light interplay
It has me gazing at what has been
Like oil on water in a watery latrine
I am looking at what is still to come.
What's coming back on the trail of breadcrumbs?
Then back to the violet dusk of here
And now with clouds of moonlit veneer.
Your mouth, eyes, and eclipse silhouette
Is it a salivation test I hold like a spent cigarette?
Questioning, will you stop?
Will you turn? Will you smile?
Will you hold my hand in yours?
And light me up like stained glass
10-panel umbrella again tomorrow.
