Regeneration Poem by C Richard Miles

Regeneration

I catch a moment
In the craziness of it all,
Draw breath, and ask the
World inside my head to stop;
The world outside, the world
Of everyday and everything
And everybody else
Can still continue if it wishes
But I...
...I must stop to exorcise
All hate, re-energize
And synthesise serenity
From gathered-up silent seconds
From the dark din of the day
So, when the flimsy curtain rips
That separates me from reality,
I resurrect myself,
A brand-new bright-winged butterfly
That sheds rich rainbow scales
Of wisdom from wide wings,
A splash of sense
Within a weary world,
Until the scales are spent
And seek regeneration
One more time.
