Regrets Poem by David Thomas

Regrets

i still remember
all those things we said
all those things we never did
and most the things we never meant,
but sometimes i blur the lines still
even just sitting, gazing out the window sill,
where will life take me?
where will it end? When will it start?
all things you probably could have answered
but now nobody cares...
i'd drink if i were a drunk
i'd smoke if i was a smoker
i'd hit up if i was a druggie
and i'd get down if i was a doggie
but since all i am is a poet
i'm just sittin here writin.
good enough for me how bout you?
got what it takes to make a difference? No?
still got a scar or two,
pull up a chair, i wonder if we'll see this through.
