Recap Poem by David Thomas

Recap

this paper heart,
standard eight and half
by eleven cut,
holds flat straight out,
no bends nor creases
along a clothes line in the wind
some ripples form they whimper
this paper is so thin,
all the people in this world
they take up room they make it known
then they leave when they leave,
one by one or more who knows
before you know there's tears and cuts
people just don't care you know?
regardless of the ever constant wind
this paper is still so very thin
it blew to where i blow now
tackled by the wind,
i have left the land of earth
and entered a realm of glass
i, a single shredded paper piece,
standard eight and half by eleven
I hold strong but this paper heart doth leave
this wind is so much stronger than me,
in the end i fear it so
that by tomorrow i will know,
there is no hope for this plain heart
not in this world of ever daggard glass,
so kiss me darling hold me tight
for i will never be alright,
but i promise you no matter what-
in my ever human way-
i will always be okay.
so please, with me stay
this is the only way,
that i will never once more stray
for this wind is very strong
this piece of paper grown too thin,
a tiny little bump
and all will thus now end.
