Reject Gods Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Reject Gods

Reject gods

I met them in Kabul
-some young kids
-future Taliban

I read things in their eyes
-as I read in book now:

"Do not revere your gods!
Do not pray to your goddesses!

Heralds proclaimed…
They made a loud noise in the land.
They did not revere their god,
Did not pray to their goddesses,
But searched out the door of Namtara…"

From the Babylon! ! !

This is how…and the way…the kids were:

Do not sit, no sleep
-shout and shout, shout out-loud
-force the gods, goddesses make them say:
- "Will they make us suffer forever? "

Taliban and Daesh
-Che and rest of rebels
-those who die easily
-ones who kill freely
-are alike, same as the:
- "Mesopotamian history
-now in books as the myths! "

This is what their bombs say
-first murmur…then aloud!
-underneath tablets, signs:
- "They are dead, we, alive
-we are them, they were us! "

People of palaces, open eyes; open eyes, open eyes!
-you who took their shanties…homeless they, are alive!
