Relationship Builder Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Relationship Builder

Based upon your most recent,
Or past experiences...
As a self proclaimed,
Relationship builder.
How would you describe,
Some of the people...
You may have come,
Into contact with?

'Meaning? '

Well...
Some work as if,
They are either...
Carpenter ants or termites.
You know...
The kind who may,
In the beginning...
Go along with the program.
And later you discover,
They are not understanding...
What a building together,
Does to benefit...
What you attempt.
And wish to prove.
To debate and argue.
None to chew away,
Incentive and motivation.

'I see your point.
Yes.
Those discussions we have.
Until the bigger picture,
Becomes a clearer reality.'

And...
What about the ones,
Unknown to leech.
Claiming...
Everyone's contributions,
Made.
Are for the people.
But...
Behind your back,
They stab and sneak.
Doing everything they can,
To pocket off your efforts.
Tirelessly endeavored!

'What do you take me for?
SOME KIND OF SUCKER? ! '

NO! NO...no. Calm down.
Whew.
You have had,
Many experiences...
With leeches.

'I apologize for my outburst.
Lately...
I've been having flashbacks,
From experiences I have had.'

I can imagine.
Say what you will,
But...
No longer do I volunteer time,
Or money to give.
When crooks and evildoers,
Are out everywhere.
Not for only money to pocket,
For themselves.
But also...
One's credibility, reputation.
And whatever done to do,
That is positive for the people.

'That's why,
I refuse to watch the news.
Regardless...
Of those in high places,
Who continue...
On a daily basis to make it!
Loving the taste,
Of making others...
Blood suckers too! '

Yeah.
But...
Thank God,
Your approach...
To building relationships,
May require sweat equity.
And less use for bandages!
