Release Barabbas Poem by Randy McClave

There were two men standing side-by-side
One never cheated, conned, used others, or lied,
The other was a hardened criminal with evil on his side
And one of them would suffer, and then be crucified.
One taught of peace and love and Gods forgiveness and perfection
One committed multiple crimes, including murder, theft, and insurrection,
And one was heading in deaths direction
The verdict would be the people's vote their suggestion.
One man stood sinless against hate, adultery and greed
While one man stood and believed and planted an evil seed,
Now it will be the people's ultimate deed
One man by the peoples voice would die, and one would be freed.
One said to love your neighbors as you do yourself
No matter of their beliefs, looks or clothes or of wealth,
And always be known and never be stealth
And to wish upon everyone, one and all love and good health.
One preached to do unto others what you want done unto you
And to always be helpful and kind and honest and true,
Blessed are the peacemakers and never a coup
And love all your enemies every single day through.
One man said let your light shine before all others
As we all are truly each others sisters and brothers,
So, that they may see your good works and your druthers
Give glory to your Father in heaven as all discovers.
While one man believed in the opposite, greed and hate and mayhem
Others he enjoyed to mock and use and condemn,
Hate came from the very stem
And those against his beliefs he would use and also murder them.
The people/ the jury they were screaming and they were yellin'
Convict him to each other they were tellin'
Convict the sinless man and the words and beliefs he is is sellin'
They people then did scream, "Release Barabbas, release the felon".
