Relief Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Relief

It is not an always,
To commit to say it.
Or heard it to hear.
If that always to be mentioned ends.
With a trying of all ways,
To prevent the inevitable.
An inevitable incapable to avoid or evade.
Yet leaves a sigh of relief as a rescue.
When known attempts made,
Can not be faulted by accusations.
Or the laying of blame to place.
Conveniently done to chase guilt away.
Momentarily felt to stay.
But to know all possible ways were tried,
To stop what comes could not be done.
Is in itself,
A breath of freedom one receives.
Even if it may be temporary.
