Remember Me? Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Remember Me?

Rating: 5.0

I had an appointment to have tests done
Signing in and presenting a requisition
Sitting down and observing plastic plants
Waiting patiently to see an able technician

A woman I did not recognize at all
Came right over and sat next to me
Speaking as though I was her friend
Her eyes conveyed a faint familiarity

Hi, you are Theresa Moore…aren’t you?
I was stunned by her knowledgeable greet
Do you remember me? My name is Sue…
I lived in an apartment across the street

Oh yes, I replied…How is your little girl?
She said, ‘My little girl is thirty-one years old.'
I’ve remarried and I am a proud grandmother
A time lapse rushed to the present…as I was told

She had many inquiries about the past and now
The next three minutes contained a mutual exchange
I shared an updat on how my children were doing…
Years had transformed, yet my address was the same

A voice was heard across the way; her name resounded
Nice seeing you again, she declared as she took stride
Toward the open admitting doors… her figure faded away
My bewilderment from our encounter began to subside
