Remembrances Poem by Stan Rodriguez

Remembrances

The names most I've forgotten
from my youth
and then there were some
I never really knew—

Yet, I remember
most every kiss and all the lips
and the places- in the shadows
in the afternoon.

I remember all the arms
and all the hands
and the promises we made
but never kept.

I remember all the times
I meant to stay
but newer faces
always had me on the move.

Yes, I remember
all the love that came my way
though maybe not all the souls
that shared themselves with me.

But I want to thank them all
for the happiness they gave
for each one combined together
made me who I am today.
