September's blood flows
through the brown veins of these leaves,
but slower than the
vital wine of summertime.
And I'm reminded
of flashing mortality.
The light of life fades
And shadowed days lie ahead.
Colours are vibrant
still, but take on new meanings.
And our bodies ache
with the weight of centuries,
like those before us,
who've passed through this Vale of Tears.
After solemn autumn,
winter's frosted warnings will soon
signal death, until
rebirth in the blissful realms
of spring. I await
the slow blooming of new Truths.
The sweet elfin songs
will reveal things one by one.
Is there a heaven?
I would still like to think so.
