Reminiscence & Recollections Poem by Bryan Taplits

Reminiscence & Recollections

At times, I wished I had never met her
But we married and sorry I was,
No longer were we as closely together
I wondered was this what they call "love"?
The years rambled around us
The children we had were dreams come true
I never would think that our two shores which had linked
Would revolve ‘round the lifeboat that was you.
The years they raged on, then into peace,
We acquiesced to each other, I guess,
No more did we fight-or even requite
To the feelings we once had-
Which formerly had once been blessed.
Now her grave which I stand near connotes:
"No longer are you the sentry or my wife"
Embittered I am- but don't know why-or perhaps it is I'm just damned!
But this much I do know:
Much longer shall l now weep...
I'll recall the good times, and to the bad times remain blind-
And, dear one, I'll pray that you had a good life!
