Requiem's Solemn Solace Poem by Diana van den Berg

Requiem's Solemn Solace

Today dawn and dusk
genuflected to the truth
that they are set asunder
by more than
dawn’s day
and dusk’s night,
and an ocean
of intentions
for dawn brings light and joy
and dusk spreads dark and devastation
and this time
the rollercoaster ride
really
is
over.

How quietly sad it is
that
despite my melancholy heart,
my wings awake gently,
quivering with the promise
of joyous freedom.

May your dusk be all you want it to be
and I wish you well
as you do me.
