Responsibility Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

Millions of people in the US
know plastic is harmful
to them, to Earth, to life
and to the environment.

But there are many more
who think that "they know"
it is absurd to use
paper instead of plastic,

they think it is their right
to use plastics or anything,
irrespective of the harm
it causes to the environment,

that they are responsible
to nobody, no one, nothing.
They are most irresponsible,
the world knows.

When a government
acts irresponsibly
it is the people who need
to show their responsibility.

Would someone remind them
"The Earth has enough
for everyone's need,
but not for everyone's greed"?
