Reverie En Plein Air. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Reverie En Plein Air. (Translation) .

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Poem Hunter/ Rita Dove/ poems/ 20/31.
The poem comes across to me as being written by a free spirit. She is like a stranger, clothes which don't suit, 'odd habits' and preferring 'books to moonlight' and statues to trees.
She is on the lawn, probably of her own home, and kicks off her sandals to take a walk around on a day when there is no wind at all.
There is ' nothing/ But news of a breeze'.This is a fairly simple poem, whose charm lies in her self portrait, her individuality. I identify with preferring 'books to moonlight' in particular.
