Rhyme - Poem by Kelly Kurt

There is something basically pleasing about rhyme
Cadence, alliteration and emotion are fundamental
Meaning and perspicacity too, are coveted qualities
Striking familiar themes with your readers gratifies
But an echoing assonance always satisfies
No matter the language, no matter the time
There’s something basically pleasing about rhyme

Yes it seems to fall into place on it's own, flows on the page..... (Report) Reply

Rhyme comes in spontaneously in good poetry. One doesn't have to labour at it. Well said, Sir. (Report) Reply

Thanks. I either use it when the subject matter seems to call for it or after several rhymes spontaneously enter my mind.

Thank you, Seema. Some people don't think it's a poem if it doesn't rhyme. (I'm not one. lol)

And so many ways too, delightfully put Kelly. (Report) Reply

I am not the biggest fan of rhyme, especially if words are forced into a poem simply for its sake. But there is a certain pleasant aspect to gracefully rhyming verse.
