We are brought into the world not as a ray of light
And besides our family were completely unknown
We are truly shadows who find it all too bright
Our flesh too soft to be shown

But in time we meet another shadow
With life wove much like our own
A pattern of triumph and tragedy,
A weave of time so delicately sewn

We share times both good and bad
We share times both happy and sad
We keep each other dry through the rain
We keep each other warm through the snow

Along the way we meet other shadows,
Who share the sight we see
Who know they can bring light to their life with others
And we create something greater than a family tree

We bring each other to triumph
And we bear the losses to follow
We become a light in the darkness for all to see
And from the depths we rise from our shadows
