There was this girl,
That followed me around.
She had beautiful curls,
That sorta hung down.
But I didn't like girls,
I was just too young.
I used to chase squirrels,
I was just too high strung.
But Rita was persistant,
She never gave up.
She was always consistant,
She never would stop
When her daddy was transferred,
She had to change schools.
And when I saw her crying,
I felt such a fool.
Later I found out,
She was a beauty queen.
She was the most beautiful woman,
That I'd ever seen.
She died later that year,
And my heart was broken.
And through my tears,
Came the words never spoken,
'I loved you Rita McElhenney'
