I saw a coyote, on the side of the road,
Dead to the world around.
The life he once had, had already flowed,
He was just a carcass on the ground.
His eyes stared out and seemed to say,
I was just crossing the street.
Then everything just faded away,
I didn't even feel the hit.
I dragged him off into the brush,
Where he could lie in peace.
And there he lay completely crushed,
A wild animal now at ease.
I laid some sagebrush over him,
And topped it off with stones.
The light was getting very dim,
As I finnished covering up his bones.
