River Ribbon Poem by C Richard Miles

River Ribbon

River ribbon, ebbing on a hidden plain
Beneath a cliff of cold chalcedony,
Do you wander wisely, or voyage in vain,
Beneath a sky so blue and heavenly?
Dreaming streamlet, when will you clearly know
How wide a path to cut to make your bed?
The destination where you wish to go
Seems still so undecided, still unsaid.
Morosely wondering in mad meander,
You seem too young to know the world’s designs
Underneath the precipice’s grandeur
And yet you see, like me, the warning signs
And you and I must carry on together.
To battle through life’s unrelenting weather.
