They walk forever on this road (the homeless and the sorrowed.)
They pass the streets of dead ends, (where lay heaps of refuse; rotten horse hooves, sodden shoes, and piles of dead animals.)
They walk on through the burning heat, staring forever at their feet, trying so hard not to fall, (for they know they would never rise.)
The weary travelers are you and I, chased forever by the threads of time.
We walk along this road, and see all our broken hopes.
(Sometimes we even see ourselves, lying dead in the drainage; a plastic bag around our face, covering what dreams are made of.)
With our hope gone, we move along, singing a broken CD song. Chased like swarms of locusts we cross the line of frozen time, leaving everything behind, we ascend into the sky.
Our hope long past had disappeared, but sensing the end drawing near, we use our last ounce of faith, to pick up the pieces and break the breach.
We stretch our arms and as we reach, we catch a draft in the breeze.
We leave this road and fly on home, to find we were never left alone, that all was a race to test our faith, and see how long we would survive, in a broken world where all had died, and our only hope was on High.
That all of the troubles and all of the snow, all of the pain in growing old, is all part of a great plan, to see if we would deny Him, when faced with this fiery trial, and give us the strength to get by it.
