Roquentin's Intent

What might be the illegible word
that Roquentin wrote
above the crossed-out, perhaps 'forger'
in 'Undated Sheet', 'Feuillet sans date',
at the start of La Nausee by Sartre?

Instead of French 'forger',
which as well as 'coin' and 'invent'
also means 'forge',
perhaps Roquentin wrote 'frapper',
meaning 'mint',
and 'fret', 'chill', 'impose' and 'hit',
(so therefore even 'indent') .

Perhaps 'inventer'
was Roquentin's intent.
