Ruings Poem by Hannington Mumo

Ruings

Ruing
Did you let the vitriol of hate
Better flow against mild love,
And in vilest bile senses lower
For ill trials that agonies serve?

If so, may heavens viler ills bring
Upon the head that misery loves;
Harder trials which agonies brew,
Bitterer vitriols that malice serves.

But if you in oversights of nature
Erred bereft of any noxious intent,
May kindest nature wholly expiate
The bold ills that your record bent.
