Run From North To South Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Run From North To South

The realtors have contravened the laws
and changed the paddy fields into towers of hollow-blocks.
The Education-magnates reap wonderful harvests.
Our local politicians loot the sand and granites
but our national war-horses think high
to amend laws to acquire the lands of tillers
for bringing more corporate bodies to our country.
Soon we’ll be importing rice from our hostile neighbours
and the terrorists have a chance to try bio-warfare.
People should rise to change the destiny of our nation
by detaching coal-scam tainted and the corporate-minded
from politics and vote for a new party to take the reins.
The day before the price of petrol rises,
Our beloved Arjun flies out to do business abroad.
Let him not try to ride on a Mongolian steed
as it will not pay heed to his slogans of Gita.
Counsels of elders should prevail over him
to run from North to South along the waters of Ganges
in a new dug canal to cheer the drought-hit farmers
as suicides often lure them assuring rest and peace.
