Sacrifice Of The Moustache Poem by Namita Rani Panda

Sacrifice Of The Moustache

My uncle had the largest moustache in the village,
who used to boast of its advantages.
He used to make fun of mine
for its unlike his but sparse and thin.
I anxiously waited for a chance
to take upon him my vengeance.
He got married to a beautiful Miss,
for his moustache he missed his first kiss.
With his moustache aunt was very much annoyed
as whatever he drank through it got filtered.
I added fuel to her annoyance
to turn his face clean without moustache.
I told her about the outbreak of a fungus
that would turn his moustache to a jungle of germs.
"No one with moustache will be spared of this devastation.
So uncle should be free from his symbol of manliness."
Aunt demanded that she would stay with uncle on one
condition.
She demanded, "Sacrifice your moustache for the sake of our
relation."
Uncle pleaded that his moustache was mature,
so no fungus could destroy it ever.
As my aunt was very strong in her determination
poor uncle had no other option.
He sacrificed his pride to save the relation.
Now I boast of mine in spite of its thin population.
And with his clean face uncle announces
the bliss of marriage and a clean face.
