Sadly Both The Flower And Fair Maiden Must Fade

Rating: 5.0

sadly in time's passage both the flower and fair maiden must fade
it is the sun that wilts and steady slow unrelenting onslaught of age
both flower and fair maiden time spent in death must leave the stage

This is brilliant. This piece reminds me of Sonnet 18. Well done.

Part of my tribute to Heinrich Heine, Hitler and the Nazi's hated him and burned his books but strangely a 100 years before the rise of Hitler, Heinrich Heine predicted it was where Germany was heading, even got the part about they would starting with burning books then people right; so despite the translations losing some of the mystic and power of his writing, I wanted to do some pieces with a modern take on some of his work, posted 'A Golden-Haired Lady Walked Under Chestnut Trees' echoing his style in a retro spin, a little old a little new. Sonnet 18 by which poet?
