Safe Passage Eternal Poem by Mark Heathcote

Safe Passage Eternal

Breathless panting at the door
Who will be entered? Who will gain access
And who will undoubtedly fall?
Who will be given safe passage eternal
Who will be met by the wrath
Of impending demons and doom
Who will dispense with all hope
And in good judgment be reincarnated
Who will burn in anguish
Clinging to their mortal dust
And perish like bent fatigued metal
When put to the sword daily
Who will lie down like the wheat slew?
By an impending violent gust
Death, he carries out no unjust sentence.
To those who called to knock politely
And open their wings like a butterfly.
Heaven for them is a blossom opening.
Bursting exactly as they knew, purged.
Salvation aligns with all creation.
Creatures of light and dark
And of all reverberation sing
And of all reverberation sing
Echoes of who live and die
Who will find mercy with you?
Flood the valleys descend or rise
To question which are you
Pity me not this, my destination.
This is my lot. My voice is recorded.
The beauty of the righteous and the guilty
Is it a moaning or a joyous sound?
My suffering is a crown or shackles.
Asking who am I, a bat or a bird
Lord, sometimes I honestly don't know.
But I trust you to catch me or let me go.
Friend or foe
As far as I know, I still love you; whatever you decide.
Whatever you decide
I'll still sizzle in despair or worship you in kindness.
Loving you at your finest, your craziest.
Beyond all compare.
