Sai011. His Early Life

SHIRDI SAI BABA

Saint Sai Baba in his early days,
At Shirdi was in his simple dress,
Wearing on his head a white turban,
And a shirt looking white and clean.

He took rest in the Mosque alone,
Or wandered in the Village lanes
Or disappeared into the nearby jungle
Not seen for days by the people.

Rich and poor, he took them as one,
Without showing any discrimination,
He didn't mind honor or dishonor
As and when shown by any visitor

He uttered ‘Allah's' name always.
Thus he lived in a simple way,
Without any pomp and show,
About himself, all people to know.

Tatya Kote, one of his devotees,
Respected him as a Saint of Saints,
And his mother Bayajabai carried
Daily food for Baba on her head.

In the jungle, she walked miles,
Searched all bushes and shrubs,
With food basket on her head,
And fed him where he was found.

When he was in deep meditation,
She pushed food in his mouth then,
Like a mother feeding her children,
Thus showing her love and affection.

It had become a regular scene,
Wherever he was, she was seen,
Doing this kind of humane service
On a regular day to day basis.

Seeing her dedication and devotion
He stayed in the mosque later on
To have his food from her hands,
Without giving her any troubles.

She made it a regular system,
Until food was served to him,
She never took her food daily
That became part of her duty really.
