Sai031. Last Days Of Sai Baba

Rating: 5.0

SHIRDI SAI BABA

One of his devotees, Tatya Patil
Dear to Baba, was seriously ill,
And his days were numbered
Like this one day, Baba said.

Though this was kept as a secret
This somehow slowly leaked out,
And Tatya was very much upset,
To take leave of Baba at last.

Baba had high fever and fell sick,
As he was very ill and weak,
He leaned on Bayaji's body
And breathed his last suddenly.

It was on 1918, October,15th day,
It happened on the Vijayadasami day,
And the news spread like forest fires,
Thus keeping the entire world in tears.

In order to save Bayaji's life,
Sai Baba gave up his own life.
This was the talk that went on,
Among those who came to mourn.

The Muslims proposed to bury him,
In open ground, as their custom,
While the Hindus were in favour
Of a temple for him with all honors.

The majority desired to enshrine
His body in Booty's Wada then,
That was once Sai Baba's wish,
And it became the Hindus' wish.

The body was enshrined there,
In an underground neat cellar,
Below an elevated platform,
For the daily puja to perform.

"The moment, you think of me,
I shall be with you, be sure,
From my Mahasamadhi, I'll rise
To attend to your pressing needs, "

So said Sai Baba as a promise.
His words, even now, he fulfills,
When one sincerely prays
For his help, it surely comes.

Tatya Patil's trust on Sai Baba is worthy and sainthood of Baba is well realized. In order to save Bayaji's life Sai Baba gave up his life and made us emotional creating new history. Baba kept his promise. This poem is very brilliantly penned on sainthood...10
