Sai030. Sai Baba, The Godman Poem by Rajaram Ramachandran

Sai030. Sai Baba, The Godman

SHIRDI SAI BABA

Both Muslims and Hindus treated
Sai Baba alike as their own God,
But Hindus felt in Mosque he was,
Not observing the Hindu rituals.

He gave no merit for religions,
But among all his intentions,
He held it as his main mission,
To purify the spirit of each one.

One may be a Hindu or a Muslim,
But with no partiality, he gave them,
His blessing for their welfare always,
Proving the credibility of his actions.

One day, for money, a Brahmin came,
A packet of mutton Baba gave him,
With instructions not to open it
On the way, but at home eat it.

But on the way, when he saw,
A mutton piece, with all awe,
He threw it in the running river,
That sank deep as gold in water.

A Muslim couple, who had no child,
Before Baba, for one, they prayed,
For that, they vowed to give sweets,
At Shirdi, to all the Baba's devotees.

By Baba's grace, a child was born.
They came to Baba, one fine morn,
Who advised them to distribute
In Hanuman Temple their sweets.

When they weren't willing for it,
He became wild and ran to beat,
Saying, what an unfaithful Muslims
They were, disobeying his orders.

Then they realized their mistakes,
And distributed to all the devotees,
In the Hanuman Temple in fulfillment
Of their vow before Baba, the saint.

These two incidents show clearly
That Baba wasn't a Muslim solely,
As he gave respects to every religion,
That leads all to the one spiritual destination.
