Sanctuary Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

Sanctuary

Rating: 5.0

When silence speaks it's loudest words
it's voice mute commentary,
and yet my heart will keep you safe
within it's sanctuary

As you alone know of the wounds
that never heal or ever cure.
The choice you make is solely yours
my heart you hold forevermore.

If you should leave because of me
I take the guilt as mine alone.
Perhaps more words I should have said,
my silence made me too unknown

I feared the truth might hurt me more,
suppressed inside the need to speak,
and tell you of the depth of love
for fear it made me seem too weak.

So now you choose to stay or go.
I know too well my own mistake.
The words you wanted most to hear
now pierce a heart that's fit to break

You have my love within you hands,
I pray inside you will not go.
The fault is mine, I let you down,
my silence must have hurt you so

If not too late to turn the tide,
my words, I know, for sure would be
‘You hold my heart, my soul, my life
Please come and share my sanctuary

A poem that flows and carries any reader gently away. Reads like a dream you don't want to wake from. A beautiful and engaging write Lodigiana. Five ethereal stars and quietly bestowed. Many thanks for sharing a poem of much more than a touch of class. Take care, Shaun.x.
