Sandbags Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Sandbags

I hope they stock up on sandbags
In cases your senses are flooded
With ideas and images of no solid anchoring
Like a colony of bats with sonar running amok

I hope your proper breakwater is a wall of sandbags
To blockade from personal obsessions moving in flash torrents
Of crippling suffocating anxiety ridden waves

I hope you spend the day keeping one eye on an encroaching storm while heaving heavy sandbags over your shoulder and putting them in place
Let your efforts serve as moderate therapy

I hope we don't run out of sandbags
Their line of defense is strong in theory but a mystery in practice
Will they hold back the raging wild waters?
Stay in place even after the blows delivered by contextual conflict?
