Give me speech, mother,
Give me knowledge,
Give me letter, mother,
Give me an alphabet, mother, a script, mother.

Give me comprehensive power, mother,
Letter-comprehension,
Give me education, mother,
Give me learning, mother, give me knowledge, give me light, mother.

Cut the bonds of ignorance, mother,
Broaden my mental horizon, mother,
Lead me from darkness to light,
Light me with Light Divine, mother.

Make me educated, mother,
Light me with light, mother,
Give me letter-comprehension,
Make me knowledgeable, intelligible,
Give me reasoning power, mother.

Agyaanta ke bandhan ko kaato, maa,
Maanshk kshitij ko bistrit karo, maa,
Andhaakaar she prakash ki aur le chalo,
Divya jyoti she aalokit karo, maa.

Shikshit karo, maa,
Prakaash she prakaashit karo, maa,
Gyaani banaayo, buddhimaan karo,
Tarka-shakti do, maa.
