Sardar* remembered

Integrity for any nation is not guaranteed
The neighbours keep strong vigil and stare with greed
Their intention is to destabilize the economy
And threaten the geographical boundary

India is infant democracy state
It gained independence very late
The foreigners occupied country for long
It was certainly expansionist drive and very wrong

When India became free country
There were lots of princely states already
Each one was given option to accede either to India or Pakistan
But the small states remained adamant

Sardar vallabhbhai patel* was Home Minister
He was capable administrator
In his home state of Gujarat, there were 224 states
By his iron hand, he managed to integrate all

Kashmir was invaded by marauding tribesmen
It was challenge to nation
J.L. Nehru took the helm of affairs
The Sardar* pushed the tribesmen very far

India was now full-fledged country
With many states integrated fully
524 states came under one umbrella
Now it was called Federal states of India

Sardar* shall be remembered forever
As he did marvelous job for newer state
Even though Pakistan played hostile role
India went to United Nations and gave friendship call

It was in India's interest to remain strong
And pose formidable peace keeping force
India was not to be cowed down
As it was her goal and ambition
