Satisfied Poem by David Harris

Satisfied

When I started writing
almost half century ago,
I wrote for the wrong reason
and that was to get rich quick.

As the years progressed
one, two, five and ten
my reasons for writing changed
I began to love what I did.

As my love grew for words
the better, I got
and now I take my time
with everything I write.

Today I have what I want
a readership wanting more.
I could not of wished
for anything better.

They say life is what you make it.
I made mine with a satisfied mind.
I may not be rich in money,
but I have friends by the score.

Success is not about riches,
it is about being appreciated
for whatever you choose to do
and I have found my success now.

I live my life satisfied;
I am at peace with the world.
My friends stretch around the globe
and I cannot ask for anything more.
