Save Me. Poem by lacey smith

Save Me.

Rating: 5.0

standing here,
waiting for that something nice.
Lashings of mascara, ruby red lipgloss
maybe they're just not enough?
The icy wind freezes the features, hides that bright smile
covering the evidence of one beautiful girl.

With every step, things are meant to get better
but that light you shine keeps dimming
maybe the dream was too ambitious
my thoughts do not seem to apply
My heart does not flow in your blood.
we're not the perfect fit.

But who says we're meant to be symmetrical?
jagged ends and odd parts show eccentric personalities
is that our only answer?
you need me to bring out yourself, and i need you,
to recover me, to embrace the transition of girl to woman.
show the world who we're meant to be.

Standing here,
on the edge of a cliff,
waiting for that special kiss.
will you? will you deliver?
maybe, maybe maybe, maybe.
We'll become our own perfect fit.
