No cause is lost, it's just not yet won
Obsessed with persistence, can't be undone
Some unlikely dreams succeed at the next turn
Failure's my friend, that's how I learn
A lost cause isn't simply a failing goal
It's an issue that deeply touches your soul
See its hidden potential, its prospect to be
Breathe life into it, you'll set it free
It's foolish to chase windmills, nowhere to go
Ideas too flawed as far as you know
My fervent desire is to back a lost cause
One that gets passing attention, little applause
A project of merit often ignored
Count me in, I'm totally onboard
Know the difference between winning and losing
Seems to the masses it's always confusing
Let's treat those two "impostors" just the same
As Kipling wrote in his famous "If" refrain
Anyone can tag on to a sure thing
Oh, what a beguiling song it can sing
I used to think winning was everything
Nothing compares to what a lost cause can bring
