Say Cheese Love Poem by Garret Raja

Say Cheese Love

In a world of filters and digital displays,
Where love is but a game, a fleeting chase,
There lived a couple, a rat and a cat,
Whose love story was veiled, a charade, tit for tat.

Before the lens, they'd put on a show,
Smiles painted on, a perfect tableau,
Say cheese, they would, lips grinning wide,
But their eyes betrayed secrets they couldn't hide.

Their love, a pretense, a grand façade,
A well-rehearsed act on a public stage abroad,
Hand in hand, they dazzled the crowd,
But behind the scenes, their hearts were tightly wound.

The rat and the cat, an unlikely pair,
Woven together by societal flair,
For the world, they painted a picture so bright,
But the truth behind the lens, a different sight.

In the sanctity of home, the cameras were off,
The painted smiles faded, revealing the trough,
Words like knives, their bitter tongues would wield,
In the echo of silence, their true pain revealed.

Yet, amidst the shadows of their discontent,
A flicker of admiration, their intent,
For their commitment to the image they've portrayed,
To maintain appearances, their efforts displayed.

In this strange dance of deceit and grace,
They chose to endure, put on a brave face,
Their pretentious love, though far from true,
Earned a whispered admiration, a salute, few knew.

For in a world where illusions are the norm,
To persist in their masquerade took courage, and more,
They held onto the fragments of their broken dreams,
While society applauded, unaware of the seams.

So, let us not judge the rat and the cat,
For their love, though pretentious, deserves a hat,
In a realm of superficiality, they fought their strife,
Say cheese love, in your peculiar, tenacious life.
