Scenarios In Our Mind Poem by David Harris

It is funny how in our daydreams
we bump into someone from our past.
We greet them with open arms,
reflecting on what has happened
to us in the intervening years.
We make scenarios in our mind
of how their lives went on.
Knowing in a way they are always wrong,
but are just the way we hoped they lived
and were happy all day long.
Then reality kicks in,
the daydream busts
and you find they’ve lived a life
you could never envisage for them.
