Scotland The Wave (Goodbye) Poem by David Francis Carter

Scotland The Wave (Goodbye)

It's not always been that easy, never the best of friends
But now you want to go it alone, so I guess this is the end
It's not too late to be neighbourly, though soon you may be gone
And we'll rename the union to Great Britain minus one
We hope you don't regret it 'cause it's a massive wrench
But you'll put a brave face on it and stay pally with the French.

Look after your resources, make use of your fertile soil
Keep bottling up your water, whiskey and your oil
We've never liked your haggis so you can keep that for your own
And good riddance to your bagpipes, we just can't stand their drone
You can't rely on us no more to dig you outta trouble, it's every man for himself once you get in your wee bubble
We've got no room for refugees to come with cap in hand
So we'll block the roads and push you back to Alex Salmond land!
We'll still come up for a game of golf every now and then and spend some of our money to keep you in tarten,
If you make us bring our passports in order to get in,
We'll double the size of our favourite wall built by Hadrian
But before you leave the GB Team we should settle all our debts,
For land we took, We'll give you Wales but we want our Wembley nets
Deep down we hope you'll all vote 'No' and keep GB as one
'Cause what are we gonna laugh at, when the Scottish football's gone?

Haste ye back
