Sea Waltz Poem by bernadette meessen

Sea Waltz

Rating: 5.0

We loved to dream a while of ships upon the sea
Moving through the midnight's calm the captain you and me
In evening dress we'd dine with him of fish and crab so fine
Exchanging tales of pirates and whales over vintage wine
On the morning we'd be on the deck below the yawning sky
And watch the signs of Galilee beneath his learned eye
Though tossed and tumbled by the waves our roots we're in the Earth
For noble we were then all our lives from our birth
But now the sea's so far away and I must dream alone
The captain's but a cloud above and with the wind has blown
So I must dream a different dream till all the ships come in
And bring with them the salty air your touch upon my skin
We loved to dream a while of ships upon the sea
Moving through the midnight's calm the captain you and me
So I must dream a different dream till all the ships come in
And bring with them the salty air your touch upon my skin

A powerful poetic narrative of love and love lost, of longing.... vivid imagery throughout. Thank you for sharing.
