Seagull Perched On Red Volkswagen, Peregrine Falcon Then

As I walk past,
a seagull lights
on a red Volkswagen
convertible, black top up,
on this rainy Sunday afternoon shortly
after 5 p.m. along Kildare Farm Road.
"Stay your course", she says, "Stay
your course." "Who are you? " I ask.
"And why the prompting approvals? "
"I'm A—" she replies, "You know me
though you sometimes take me for granted.
And as to my approvals, well, welcome
to my world. You are always welcome here
with me—water, sun bind us. This is a place
where seabirds light, feel safe and free,
find stay—seagulls like me, cormorants,
osprey, ocean falcons, Peregrine ones.
"I think I'll stay awhile", I decide and tell her.
It's that smile, that beaming seagull smile
that spoke to my heart and said it all.

I like it! Nature is always willing to speak to us, if only we are willing to listen.
