Search Our Heart Poem by Marilyn Lott

Do you ever have days that for some reason
You feel the need to search your heart?
I mean, really look hard at the little things
Where your friends and family are a part.

Conversations you have had now and past
Where troubling thoughts occurred
Perhaps something was said at one time
Anger or confusion was stirred.

Could you have done or said things
That could have been said a little bit better
So the person was lifted up, not down
Maybe you wish that did not occur.

We know, oh yes we do my friend
When something like that took place
When we need to speak a bit kinder
Because words you can never erase.

Life is hard and so are relationships
Where love and kindness plays a part
I think from time to time we must
Take time to simply search our heart!
